Oregon lawmakers hear details of tax increase that could help pay for 2021 Eugene track and field event: SALEM — A proposal to double the state’s lodging tax drew praise from the hotel industry and some pointed questions from lawmakers at an initial public hearing Friday. The tax increase on hotel and campsite stays is being floated to meet a $25 million request for the 2021 world track and field championships in Eugene. But supporters stressed at the hearing that House Bill 4146 is more far-ranging than that.
