A Wyden-Stewart race
A Wyden-Stewart race: Ron Wyden entered Congress the year Ronald Reagan became president, and has been in Washington, D.C., longer than any Oregonian in history — 15 years in the House and 20 years in the Senate. That period closely coincides with the long decline of rural Oregon’s natural-resources-dependent communities. Wyden certainly didn’t cause that decline, but it’s fair to ask whether he has done enough to soften its effects.
