Tell state legislators: Vote Yes on Safety and Savings.: Prisons don’t cure addiction, yet the vast majority of women in Oregon’s prison are serving time for addiction-driven crime. These sentencing laws separate families and cost Oregon millions.



Now our women’s prison is full. Why spend $17 million on another prison for nonviolent crimes when community-based supervision and addiction treatment are more effective?



The Safety and Savings Act (HB 3078A) realigns laws for drug and property crimes to hold people accountable with less excessive sentencing. Shorter sentences saves taxpayer dollars, some of which can be directed toward effective services like community-based supervision, treatment, and survivors’ healing.
