"CAIR-Florida Welcomes Arrest of Man Accused of Drawing Nazi Swastikas Across Miami Beach

(MIAMI, FL, 3/21/19) – The Florida Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida), the state’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomes the arrest of Sean Kenna, a South Florida man charged with seven counts of felony criminal mischief after drawing swastikas and other hateful language in various locations in Miami Beach.

Multiple media reports today informed south Floridians of the arrest of Kenna, reportedly homeless who, between February 9th and March 19th, spray-painted a swastika on the front gate of a home in Miami Beach, scrawled the word "death" on a blue U.S. Postal Service mailbox, and wrote "kill the Jews" and drew a swastika on a public sign.

“The safety and security of Florida’s religious minorities remain a top priority for CAIR-Florida. It is shameful to continue witnessing such an alarming increment in our state’s hate crimes that are directed at our Jewish neighbors once again. These types of hate incidents and crimes have also affected the Florida Muslim and Sikh communities.

CAIR-Florida is doubling its efforts to keep Florida worshipers safe. We have offered our Safety and Security programs to our Jewish neighbors and to any other community of worshipers who would like to receive this training at no cost. Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism, and hate have no place in Florida."
